Weston Dean Jones, affectionately known as "Wessy Boy," burst into our world on March 4, 2022, a 6lb 14oz bundle of joy. Relaxed like his dad, he quickly made himself at home, winning over even Dolly, our cautious, 10-year old English pointer. They slowly but surely had become best buds.
We raised Weston with two goals: showering him with endless love and making sure he lived every day with "swag." Looking back at countless photos, I can proudly say we nailed it! This fashionable little man rocked neutral palettes, flat-bill hats, and Nike blazers, turning heads wherever he went.
Beyond his style, Weston was a little mischievous but had the biggest heart. He and Kyler, his father, shared a unique bond. Playing in the boat, learning all about “boy things”.
His first "dada" on Thanksgiving 2023 is a cherished memory. He loved playing with blocks, exploring with his fishing pole and golf clubs, playing hide and seek with his mom, Anna and zooming around in his little blue truck. Mornings meant coffee and donut runs, daycare with Mrs. Aimee, and always finding new treasures to bring home at Target. Ring Around the Rosie, Mrs. Rachel, and FaceTiming his family and friends were his favorite pastimes. His infectious smile even captivated Anna's social media followers, where he became known as "Wessy Boy"
As the days turned into weeks, that turned into months we added another English Pointer to the mix, Moxi. Moxi quickly became “Weston’s puppy”. They played endlessly in the yard, Weston sharing snacks (and sometimes toys!) and waking up every morning to go see her in the kennel. Sadly, Moxi crossed the rainbow bridge in November, leaving a hole in our hearts.
Though grief-stricken, we couldn't have imagined how quickly our world would change again. On December 2nd, 2023, life threw its hardest curveball. After a seemingly ordinary morning, during a rare date night dinner a call sent our lives spiraling. From that night on, we slowly watched our world crumble in room 309. Despite valiant efforts from care teams at University of Iowa Children’s Hospital, our sweet Weston earned his angel wings just days later.
While words cannot express the depths of our loss, we knew his spirit couldn't fade. In his memory, we made the tough but selfless decision to donate his organs, giving other children a chance at life. We laid him to rest on December 7th, 2023– a day that forever changed our lives but a day that marked a newfound determination to keep his light shining.
To honor Weston, we plan to continue his little legacy through memorial events and fundraising, we hope to support other families and bring joy to their lives. This new journey allows us to carry Weston's legacy forever, keeping his memory alive for years to come.
Thank you for reading about our precious boy. Though our world stopped on December 7th, this is just the beginning of a new chapter, one where Weston's spirit guides us every step of the way.
Until we talk about it…
Sweet Wessy Boy and Moxi forever 🤎
